Will Shakespeare

Poet and Playwright. Rather successful, despite being considered uneducated. Very much alive in 1604.

Robert Greene

A rather jealous contemporary of Will, better educated, but less successful. Unfortunately dead.

Hipster pal of Will. Much better educated, a bit of a hipster. Also unfortunately dead. Or is he?

Anne Hathaway

Will's wife, ruler of the Shakespeare household in Stratford and manager of the household accounts.

COMEDIES

Will wrote 17 comedy plays. Three of these are unconventional and more tragicomic in theme. These have become known as the problem plays.

HISTORIES

Will wrote 11 history plays. They weren't historically accurate, and were written to please the monarch at the time. In 1604 this was King James I.

TRAGEDIES

Will wrote 11 tragedies, many with hefty body counts. The highest body count was in Titus Andronicus, with a total of fourteen dead bodies by the final curtain.
