Insult of the Day

"You Banbury cheese!"

THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR

Act 1, Scene 1

Banbury cheese was a strong, yellow cheese made in Banbury, Oxfordshire. The cheese was very thin — when the rind was pared away, there wasn’t much cheese left! An insult to anyone who was slender or shallow. Unsurprisingly, Banbury cheese is longer produced!
